sounds based. So long as you're self aware enough to know that your protagonist is not a hero

I want to write a book, or a short story, or really anything that can get the ideas/moments that play out in my head onto some paper... but I hit a mental bottleneck and can't bring what is vaporous into solid matter.

not a book but a short story about someone who finds himself walking the stairs to the top of his apartment complex to kill himself and doesn't know why/if he wants then begins to question if he's making the choice to kill himself, if he can control it or is something just forcing him to walk to his death

Mere moments ago I finished finished an edit of the second of three parts of my novel.
It's an original fantasy world, set in what would be roughly 700ad in the real world.
The first part is about a young slave girl who escapes her master during a sacking, and her struggles to survive.
The second part is about two brothers trying to rule while feuds and rebellions tear their little kingdom apart.
Then the final part, wherein all the previously unassociated players come together, centers around a queen widow who tries to reestablish her father's kingdom.
It's much more character fiction than genre fiction.

>anything that can get the ideas/moments that play out in my head onto some paper...

Write them down. Any time you read something insightful, or have a thought that you feel is worthwhile and original, write it down. It can all be used at a later date.

It's a horror epic that combines themes of love, brutality, life after death, hope and despair. It's about a man that faces against a cult that at first threatens everything he loves to tempting him to reign as royalty after initial impressions. I absolutely love everything about it. I wrote it before but I accidently threw it out when I was cleaning my study. I'm re-writing it again and trying to not only capture the essence and life of the first time but improve upon where I remembered I could have done a little better.

I contributed to a fantasy novel that got vanity published. I tried reading it after I got my copy but it was garbage. Aside from that I've written several novel-length stories but none of them are finished. I've been working on my main project since 2014 and there's no end in sight despite the fact that I think about it almost every day.
