Elaborate.

Unfortunately we have to take a break in the general to address some rumors spread about my literacy in an earlier thread regarding the Sopranos. In this thread, I made a simple address to the state of aesthetics in literature as compared to a show like the Sopranos, and how I preferred the Sopranos. For whatever reason, I was called an autistic sperg and multiple users claimed I “don’t read.” Alas, had they read the thread before posting, they’d have seen I made multiple direct comparisons to writers, and the few things I find admirable in contemporary literature — had they.

I found myself regrettably unable to address these idiotic accusations before the thread died as I was pre-engaged in an area without wifi. Let this be enough to undeceive all men.

The style is so perfect and nicely captures the comfy, familial feel of middle-class rural life. It helps you characterize people and is very good with dialogue.

But didn't you mention the lack of any good modern literature as an argument for the Sopranos being good?

>> No.19697401

>>19697373
The argument wasn’t necessarily that the Sopranos was superior to modern literature, as much as it was that the Sopranos represents modern life better than modern literature

I see. But all I said (iirc) was that cinema is a lower artform than literature. It doesn't necessarily mean the Sopranos can compete with historical literature in representing modern life.
