They also usually write entirely in lowercase and use flower/star emojis a lot. I wonder if people use these things as a sort of 'tell' to indicate their cultural leanings online, in the absence of clothing etc.

I have tried reading African American and just African lit (via the Hiennemann AWS) and t.b.h. their literature just isn't that great, it's not bad but pretty much every time I read one of these books (which almost always includes a boohoo colonialism part) I'm left with a feeling of indifference. For people who suffer so much, they sure don't put their ordeals to paper very soulfully.
