1. The Part about Archimboldi
2. The Part about Amalfitano
3. The Part about the Critics
4. The Part about the Crimes
5. The Part about Fate

9001. The apologetic foreword explaining why it was released as one volume.
9002. The apologetic afterword explaining why it was released it as one volume.

Fuck Archimboldi. I don't get why everyone is so damn high on that section. For me, it's probably.....

1. Amalfitano
2. The Critics
3. The Crimes
4. Fate
5. Archimboldi

Basically Sonora > Archimboldi

IS this a fragment or does it have a proper ending with closure?

>> No.1965656

At first I was like:

1. Critics
2. Archimboldi
3. The murders
4. Amalfitano
5. Fate

Then I was like:
1. Archimboldi
2. Critics
3. Amalfitano
4. Fate
5. The murders

An awesome book, 8/10.

It may not have the resolutions you're looking for but the last 40 or so pages in Archimboldi, the last part, will blow your mind.

fair enough

I just hate the feel of reading something unfinished. If it has any kind of ending I am fine. Thank you good sir. This book is now on top of my reading list.

The last 5 pages, where you expect some exciting revealing or good conclusion, are instead two siblings talking about their favourite ice creams.

I am not too stupid to read spoilers if we are already talking about the ending.

But thanks for using the spoiler tags tripfag.

Isn't the majority of Critics based outside Sonora?

>> No.1966603

Why is this so good, but The Savage Detective so bad? Stuff like Amulet and LEOE are decent though. I want to get lots of his stuff, but can't afford the hardcovers.

Boring academics writing about the sex lives of boring academics usually sucks.

If Sunhawk didn't post with regularity, I'd think he's a troll. Before reading Sunhawk's post, I never would have believed that someone could be so undiscerning.

Now, I just laugh at them. He's just about the standard by which all inept thinkers are judged.

>> No.1967865

Oh, I'd really like to read this book, since I've read The Savage Detectives and Nazi Literature in America.

I don't want to continue reading the thread so not to read any spoil, but I find weird that people say The Savage Detectives are bad.

My mother tongue is Spanish, I'm from Chile. Could it be that in Spanish makes more sense? Not in language but in idiosyncrasy or something of the kind?

How could you not finish Critics? that part is sooo good!
>>1967865
I am jealous of the people who can read this in Spanish, Wimmer is a good translator, I'm sure there is very little that would be changed from Bolano's exact image but to read it exactly as he wrote it, consider yourself lucky. I have been working on my Spanish diligently for years, my hope is to one day read Bolano in Spanish.

>> No.1968770

The best part of 2666 is probably about page 790 - 850, which shows Archimboldi's rise as a writer. I'm reading that now. Such great parts to it.
