The only book I've read from 2021 is Barcelona Dreaming by Rupert Thomson but I didn't really like it much.

Houellebecq is the only modern author I'm aware of that seems to be worth reading.

It’s about a hot schoolteacher woman who molests her 14 yr old student, including having him fuck her ass.

It’s not good, but I did have a good fap to it.

Is that the sort of thing OP is looking for?

i read some poetry collections from 2021 but they were shit. reading anything from current year is always a crapshoot unless you really know and trust the author already.

God, he really is fucked. I like his books tho.

I haven't read anything published in the last 5 years

>> No.19614727

i've only read two books from 2021:
kazuo ishiguro - klara and the sun, which was great, but not his best imo
and max porter - the death of francis bacon, which was alright, i think i probably needed to know more about him beforehand to really get something from it though

The three books I've read that were published this year (Klara and the Sun, Permanent Earthquake, and whatever that collection of Brian Evenson stories was called) were all absolutely terrible.

A local guy wrote this. It wasn't great, but it was pretty good, pretty entertaining, pretty based. I met him a while ago this year and he was very interesting to talk to. He also wrote a book a couple years ago about a 17,000 mile bicycle journey he took from Alaska to the tip of Argentina. That book was awesome.

I only read Iron Widow from the year 2021 and I enjoyed it because I'm a filthy degenerate who reads young adult books by women of color.
If /lit/ read any literary fiction this year, it was probably the Sally Rooney book or the Kazuo Ishiguro book.

Sure, but everything from current year sucks.

>> No.19615891

I read 4 books from this year: Project Hail Mary, We Have Always Been Here, My Heart is a Chainsaw, and Murderbot Diaries 6: Fugitive Telemetry. I probably liked Fugitive Telemetry a little bit better than My Heart is a Chainsaw. We Have Always Been Here was alright and Project Hail Mary was better than Artemis.
