The grand unifying theme of Western science and philosophy is a search for unity in nature. In physics this is exemplified by the Big Bang Theory which is a modern version of the Greek cosmogonies, in chemistry by search for the primary form of matter or the modern equivalent of the Greek arche, in biology by search for the common ancestor of all living creatures. Are there any books that BTFO this monocentric worldview and opt for one based on pluralism?
