"I'm one of the few people you'll meet who's written more books than they've read."

Is this actually possible?

It's 100% impossible to write more than you've read. For books they can at best break even unless they dictated a novel by voice but if you count audiobooks then still impossible

I think it might be possible that Plato wrote more than he read. There were few books to read and he wrote a lot.
Same applies for a lot of the first writers, actually.

Karl Pilkington has legitimately written more books than he's read.

It doesn't count if you read a book you wrote yourself. And most people learn to read with short kids stories, not full books.

My father is a published writer, having written a niche hobbyist book, a children's book, and a brief transportation history. Once, about 20 years ago, he had "a novel in him" and took 18 months to write it. Not finding a publisher for that one, he was content that he had been through the creative process, and stuck it in a drawer.

He likes to boast that the last time he read a book-length work of fiction was when he read Charlotte's Web in grade school.

I didn't say he was dumb, only that he didn't read. The vast majority of people stop reading books after they finish secondary school. Even Ricky admits he hates reading books.

He's a parody of Stephen King, of whom that is probably true.
