My attention span taps out after about 5 minutes of reading. How do you guys do it?

We have this thread five or more times every day. The trick to reading for more than a few minutes at a time is just to sit down and do it. "Attention span" isn't real, it's just an excuse people use. You want to read? Just fucking do it.

So what? Reading whole books is a waste of time. Reading 4chan posts gives you much more insight, and reading enough 4chan posts can give you a clear idea of any concept any author wrote down in 300 pages, in a few sentences.
And if you read a book for the story, then you are literally a cuck. go outside

It takes a lot of time and effort to grow your reading tolerance. When I first started reading I would be fairly done by the half hour mark, now I can attentively read for 6-8 hours if I have no distractions and a decent book in my hand. It is also important to enjoy reading.

Mindwandering is a given.

When your attention runs out, let your mind wander and relax for a bit and then try again.

Do this consistently and you’ll eventually get your attention span to 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 minutes

I will now teach you a way to rewire your brain
>take a deep breath, fill up your lungs
>exhale completely until lungs are empty
>take the DEEPEST breath you can, activate your whole core, once your lungs feel full take short breathes taking even more air in, until your lungs are truly full and you have to yawn/cough
>exhale completely, again when your lungs feel empty contract your diaphragm repeatedly to empty them completely
>stay out of breath until you feel uncomfortable
>take the deepest breath again
Repeat as many times as you want until your brain feels as fresh as if you just woke up. I have to do this just 2/3 times to get ready. Dopamine can't fuck with you when you are too lucid to get fucked by it.

That's complete bullshit. If you're in an environment away from technology for extended periods, reading becomes easy and fun because there's nothing else to do. A book is a godsend compared to staring at the wall.

Practice meditating. Close your eyes and sit still for as long as you can, then the next day do that again for longer. Eventually you'll get good at it. This ability to sit and concentrate will transfer to reading.
