19562424 No.19562424 [Reply] [Original]

I'm looking for a book that will blow me away like Blood Meridian did. Doesn't need to be similar to BM, but I want the same feeling of having something in my hands that feels profound and beyond anything I could really understand.

"The Culture of Critique" is for the contemporary world what "The Origin of Species" was for biology. Nothing makes sense unless analyzed through it.

The Divine Comedy, Moby-Dick, and Paradise Lost. I'd also suggest the Bible, but I have a feeling you wouldn't be particularly receptive to that idea (despite the fact it'd help you understand the books above and Blood Meridian better).

Melancholy of Resistance
Moby Dick, Pierre; or, The Ambiguities
The Man Without Qualities
The Golden Bowl
Joseph and His Brothers, Doctor Faustus

Soul
The Street of Crocodiles

Also Suttree is better than BM.
