Mrs Dalloway is so good. I had an existential crisis when Peter Walsh passed the school children; the simple stream of consciousness style about growing old, and the future being for the young hit me hard even though I’m only in my 30’s. I’m surprised Woolf isn’t mentioned more for depressing literature. Her writing is very somber and melancholy. I always think it’s the mark of a good writer when the plot and characters are both boring but the book is still great. IMO, Woolf and Faulkner best represent the modernist style
