There's also some drama about Gamergirl Aunt lying to Cara about not being how Julian Assange found out about the ayylmaos (therefore supposedly ruining Cara's family and tying her into this whole thing) in the first place, but that goes nowhere - she never lied, Julian Assange being the brother of a lady who secretly studied the ayylmaos turns out to be just a coincidence. Cara reflecting on how Bvll omitted being the Ayylmao Goering also takes up quite a lot of pages.

Also, there are references to TESIV: Oblivion and some other vidya, and a lengthy scene of Cara processing her childhood trauma through the plot of Star Wars: A New Hope.

I legitimately don't mind all the virtue signalling and how much it takes up space and muddies the narrative, but the worst part is that the entire novel is built on two threads which go all the way through:
>Cara displaying the instability of her emotional state, and not in an interesting way. Essentially repetitions of "she was very hurt and sad and lonely, so she curled into a ball and cried for two hours". That's her reaction to every single event in the novel, ever.
>Cara really, really hating her Julian Assange dad, and being right about doing so.
Ayylmaos essentially take a thematic backseat to these two, and end up in a tangled mess. While those constants don't really sum up to anything. Julian Assange doesn't ever appear in the plot directly, for how much page space is given to Cara seething about him.
