the funniest shit is that these “little libraries” are a simple and easy way to build a bit of community and help some people out, all without being particularly intrusive, but this is the thing they focus on instead of the economic and cultural upheaval they’ve created.

Gentrification occurs because an area which was once unattractive is now attractive, mostly because of new jobs in the area. More people want to move there, so demand for housing goes up while supply remains constant. Prices increase as the landowners maximize profit. It's not a race thing.
