Literature (poetry, philosophy, and the sciences included) and painting are the highest art forms, followed shortly by sculpture and architecture. Music is a tier below, and always overrated by teenagers. Dance is alright. Movies, needless to say, are not art.

granted, a peoples art. by definition it is not high culture, which is why "arthouse" directors are such fags (and everyone knows it).

There is so many layers of production in film: it hides the directors hand. In literature there is no such pretense because you are totally on display and you are to blame for each keystroke.

There are a small number of directors who have made films of value. Starting with Carl Theodor Dreyer.
