19512794 No.19512794 [Reply] [Original]

Yesterday I made $70 selling books standing in front of the local grocery store for a couple of hours.

Today I will work on finishing my ebook and list my paperback for sale on DIY / homemade stuff websites. (etsy, amazon's handmade program)

What are you working on today, anon?

Wrote some notes last night which was my first time writing ANYTHING in over two years due to my day job and some issues at home. Tried to jump back on my laptop today but have no juice whatsoever and am constantly worried my baby will wake up. So rather than use the time she's sleeping, I fret her waking by just watching over her.

I was able to write a ton when my baby was under 1 year old by doing this:

>1. get a rocking chair
>2. sit in rocking chair and feed baby with a bottle
>3. rock and daydream what you will need to write
>4. baby falls asleep
>5. put baby in bed, go write!

Problem is I usually have to sleep pretty early in order to get to work on time so I'm stuck with only weekends to actually have free time and I get so nervous about her waking up and crying that I can't concentrate.

Ah shit, I'm sorry bro... shit is tough. The world does not want organic self-expression, the world instead wants canned art that does not deviate from the script.

While I was working and had ideas, I used the notes app on my phone to write down things when they came to me while working at a pallet yard.

Nesmer, are you going to build an author website soon?

I think I need to work on my website, I've been very lazy and never even updated my shit. Also, I'd like to co-operate with you and build a writing support discord that all of our /lit/ author websites link to.

One thing people complain on /lit/ to me about is that they have no idea what The Shitkickers is about and, haha, I actually can understand now because I have no idea what Eggplant is about. Maybe if you write a good intro to your book it will help me figure out how I can write a good intro or summary of mine.

I'd like to get a blog type site started to post stories I write and links to my book, and anything else I do.

we should definitely all be in contact. I think we should also all be contributing to &amp, it's a great platform to keep people engaged and keep a discourse going with people who actually read our work.

this is my synopsis on the back of the book. it's a little corny, but I think it manages to sum everything up and sell it quick. and desu, I have no god damn idea where the title came from-- it was just a random filler word I used as a working title and it really stuck with me...

Back in the day we used to have "web rings" of adult sites that you could browse, maybe a similar concept could work for /lit/ authors where we have a director of each others' sites listed on our sites and a little summary of the type of writing and topics we cover. I'm not even sure which chatroom we could all begin to hang out in!

I was using minds.com artist's chat recently, a couple of tranny jannies wanted to ban me but I can still access it for now:

I read two chapters and skimmed some of the rest. You should hire an editor before you self-publish. For me there is far too much dialogue, that's just not something I tend to enjoy, and the dialogue here seemed to be pointless or meandering. I wasn't keen on the informality that crept into the narrator's voice either, such as the reference to 'shit', as in 'shit like this', or 'other shit'; it felt inconsistent with the rest of the voice. I also would have liked to have just stayed with the one character rather than jumping around. You also misspelt sneer as 'snear', so be careful with spelling.

Normally I don't read as much from anon works as I did with this, and I only bother replying with criticism to things I actually like in some way.

If I had time I’d write a 20 page essay on why entertainment media is dogshit and why the only solution for writers is to relentlessly produce material, but I’ll just keep it simple and say that this book is an example of my potential, not my greatest achievements

...wandering around the Christmas market, the city center all adorned with lights; girls with flushed cheeks dressed up all cozy, more stylishly than summer, sometimes you even spot a beret; the excellent and ever-present seasonal songs of Paul McCartney and Mariah Carey, wishing Jews on Twitter a Merry Christmas, getting hammered, going to the mall drunk, buying prezzies, receiving prezzies, putting up decorations... >>19513391
Yeah I'm thinking if I ever get around to finishing any of my manuscripts, I'll most likely end up hosting it myself or something. Like a cover, chapter links, and then plain text. With a link for purchasing copies. Register a copyright and all that, or however that works. No sense trying to game some system's algorithm so somebody else can squeeze a few extra pennies of advertising revenue.

I was thinking it through, and the current 4chan publishing model is insane. Banner ad, link to Amazon page, open free sample, fuck around with the slow-ass interface, decide if you like it, close out, purchase. As a totally new author that is a lot to ask from a potential customer. I was thinking it through, and I've paid money for physical copies of books that I could read online, just because I prefer it that way. And if I'm willing to invest a week reading it, I'm willing to wait a week, and I don't care if I have to pay ninety-nine cents or ten dollars. And if I take the time to read something, I can't help but express my opinion on it, to anyone who I think might care, even if that's just the author himself.

I'm publishing to 4chan because I think 4chan represents the last bastion of the old web. And in the old web, they knew how to get shit done. Say what you will about Tucker Max or anyone at Rudius Media, he put his money where his mouth was. He knew that if he wanted to step outside of the establishment and make art as an individual, he couldn't expect to be treated like an establishment author, anymore than he could stand on the roadside with a sign that says "Want to cure cancer. Know Jews are hiding secret. Any assistance appreciated" and expect to be given a clinic to practice in.

Worked out for the 50 Shades chick, anyway.
