so tomorrow morning, some friends and i are planning on heading to the local closing borders and really stickin it to them by stealing something around a hundred books or so. i went in today and everything seemed extremely hectic, i.e. ridiculously long lines, busy busy staff, etc. what do you all think of this? our plan is to simply stuff our backpacks profusely and walk out casually. if alarms go off, we'll simply run to where another friend is waiting with the car whose license plate will be splattered with mud. i didn't see any security guards and i feel as though everybody working there will be pretty apathetic. regardless, i'm a little worried. do you think they will call the cops? i mean, this is lit related, right?

>> No.1950609

i mean you will get caught because you are a fag, but when i was there today i realized that i would be really easy to steal lots of shit. the backpack thing is dumb idea though ya tardfucker

Book store goes bankrupt because nobody wants to buy books anymore.

Reading for leisure slowing going by the wayside in the general populace.

Book store offers huge discounts.

You decide to steal...?

Why don't you just stay at home and play some more vidya games.

>neither of them understand that whether OP steals the books or not the store is still going to close.
>neither of them realize shoplifting has nothing to do with the store closing, but rather the changing way that most americans consume books (they don't or they get a kindle or buy online)
>so little critical thinking or analysis in this thread; how do you into high school english ?

>> No.1950621

It's very easy OP. Ignore these self-righteous fags, it's just the anon hate machine at work. Just walk in and out casually. I stole about 20 movies from my local blockbuster during their GOOB sale. Watch out for managers, they might still care but employees on their last days of work don't give even a quarter of a shit.

Meanwhile the lameos in this thread made me see so much red I forgot to provide you with advice OP.

Anyways, the best time to steal is during bedlam. Throwing books in a backpack looks like blatant theft, you would be much better served by getting large cardboard boxes and putting books in those, possibly putting a large "paid" sticker (or in sharpie) on the side, and just carrying them out with your friend. Most people will look and be like okay, he paid for it.

thanks everyone for the input so far

yes, i understand the moral ramifications of theft

am bringing backpack only because i want to carry fucking huge amount of books. i'm not talking 2 or 3 or 5 or 6 light shoplifting. i'm talking literally around fifty or so books

My store boldly claims "40% OFF"

...On greeting cards.
Fiction is 10% off.

Well so are magazines, but still...

I got this months Hi-Fructose at $4, this snazzy Candide edition for $11.70, and The Portable Hannah Arendt for $14 at 30% off $20

I already did this.

Enjoy taking the risk, getting caught, put in jail, parents getting you out, appearing to court, forced to take rehab classes and do community service, forced to pay all the court fees and probably full price on all the books, etc, etc, etc

Think about what you are doing and why. Are you just doing it for the high? Couldn't there possibly be other risks you could take that doesn't cripple part of your life?

I went in took a couple or few books at a time for like five different occasions.
Didn't get caught and nothing happened.
Either I'm just sneaky as fuck or they didn't care.
Still watch out for those electricbeeperalarmsetterofferthings though.

Oh you bad person! you might drive that store into bankruptcy with antics like that.

This was also the ramifications for someone I knew under 18 who stole a large sum of items. Also in California, the most liberal of them all. Imagine what will happen to you if you are over 18.

There are various books on this subject as well.

Be aware that making rfid resistant items is illegal.

a hundred might be excessive, if you walk in with an empty backpack and then leave with it so full that you are hunched over that might draw suspicion.

Mud is unreliable. Put duct tape over the LP instead. After you drive a few blocks from the store, get out and rip it off so the cops wont think it suspicious.

Keep in mind there might be cameras, so hoods up, and that someone will eye the car's make and model. You should probably get somewhere with a garage as soon as possible. Preferably somewhere close.

Other than that, good luck you cheap bastard!
