Whelp, here we go.

I'm going to miss Borders. Sure they were a big corporate bookstore, but the people at mine were always cool. It was a nice, laid back atmosphere, they had local community events and the big nationwide events, and it was just a good place to hang out.

RIP Borders.

40% is all?

I wonder if it'll drop more as it gets closer to the date or they're planning on trying to sell their surplus to Barnes & Noble or something.

>> No.1948937

borders is basically the wal-mart of books, if wal-mart was stupidly overpriced and hired "alternative" retards.

When Borders went out of business in Scotland it was pretty much ~£1 a book.

Wait it out and get bargains on whatever is left.

but thats what they said about that mom and pop shop down the road and Joe's Sporting Goods ;__;

Yeah, the discount will most likely increase the closer they get to closing. When the one in my area closed a couple of months ago it had discounts of like 70% to 80%. But by then almost everything good was gone. Still, at 40%, if you also have a Border's Rewards Plus membership, its most likely going to be cheaper than anything you can find on Amazon.

What?

>> No.1948959

Agreed, OP. I used to spend hours in the one by my apartment, just browsing, or reading in those comfortable ass chairs. It had a nice atmosphere. Much better than Barnes and Noble.

I'm about to head up there right now. I don't really have any money, but I want to see it one last time before it turns into the picked over skeleton of its former self.

A lot of their stuff just isn't worth it at a 40% discount. You can still find cheaper online or in small bookshops.

Wait until it hits 50-60% for it to be worth it.

aye, same here.

>>1948975
I know right? Even with the brand new stuff, you can find cheaper online. It's impossible for them to compete.

This.

All their stuff was MASSIVELY overpriced.

keep succumbing to your corporate masters, scumbags

The fuck you going on about. The store is dead. Even if they sold EVERY bit of stock, they're not going to survive. The deal is done and through.

Go back to smoking your pot you hippie.

insider sources say the rise in e-reader availability and ownership was a key factor in the decision to shut down

OP here. Checked out Borders today; everything I saw was only 10%-20% off at max. They also didn't receive word about their music, so that's still full price.

I'll try back in a week, hopefully it will drop like a stone.

I don't have a Barnes & Nobles in my town, so this is fucking shit.
