Is there deeper literary value in light novels? I'd dare to say they are better than 99.9% of all modern Western nihilistic garbage. At least they teach us to be more human and loving.

Why would that be? Aren’t they just jap YA, so yeah there may be a couple of decent ones (if anyone has any suggestions I’d actually interested to look into them) that have more than just a completely surface level story.
If you think they’re gonna be better because they’re Japanese and japs are based or some shit then you should go back to r/animememes.

Monogatari series (although I can't imagine any translation being as creative as the original Japanese)
Suzumiya Haruhi (peaks in the 4th volume)
Wolf and Spice (if you can handle European medieval fantasy by a Japanese author)
Honzuki (ditto)
Index series (massive worldbuilding, starts really slowly)
Tomozaki if you're into self-help

/lit/ will never admit to it, due to them being narcissistic and egotistical, but light novels will always have more literary value than the garbage they will ever produce. It’s a simple fact, nothing more and nothing less. Even now, in this thread, there’s nothing but cope from them.

I mean its not exactly an alien idea for authors to use pictures accommodated by words to help illustrate a setting or idea to a reader/viewer. And with that said, I do believe most literature has value so long as you feel like you've gotten something out of it - whether that be knowledge or entertainment.
On a separate note; why did you make this thread? Are you seeking justification from 4chan for liking LNs'? Congrats anon, you like a medium.

I have worked on the English adaptations of light novels professionally. I can safely say that they have no literary value whatsoever. That is not to say they have no place. A light novel is entertainment for children, teenagers, and adults who want escapism that does not challenge them. It is entertainment product. Many light novels are written by young men in their early 20s who have never engaged with anything other than light novels, and have the hallmarks of amateur writing and myopic worldview. Japan has actual literary works of great substance, but there is no deeper literary value here. Light novels typically do not even have good prose style in Japanese and some are even better in translation due to more competent writers than the original authors polishing them.
