How are The Dark Tower books?

>> No.1939831

first couple are pretty good, maybe King's best stuff, definitely his best fantasy stuff.

Kinda goes downhill from there.

I found the first four to be excellent (The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands and Wizard and Glass). The fifth is good (Wolves of the Calla) but takes WAY TOO long to actually get moving, I think King could have cut half of that material and still had the same damned story. The last two (Song of Susannah and The Dark Tower) fall a bit flat, but that may be just because the first four are so damned strong.

All that being said, I'd still suggest you invest your time in reading it all. As a whole, it's pretty damned good.

The whole series consists of Roland murdering dozens of inferior foes. Not even once he did battle with an equal.

Start with The Stand unabridged first, then go from there.

As most people have said, the first 3 are great. I thought the rest were mediocre, with the 5th being the worst. Just way too much useless material. I thought the ending was great though. I suggest you read it.
