I just brought 5 (perfect condition) second hand books for €20

Any recommendations, what should I read first (or in what order)?

Picture of dorian gray - oscar wilde
A tale of two cities - charles dickens
A clockwork orange - anthony burgrees
Ulysses - james joyce
The corsair - lord byron

Picture only related because it also has the number '5' and the word 'lit' in it.

Clockwork orange, but it is pretty heavy stuff; child rape etc.

How does it feel knowing that 3 of those are available for free legally?

But then he couldn't put them on the bookstore counter, or carry them around, or display them on his bookshelf and get all that delicious cultural capital.

Let's be honest, OP. You got everything you wanted out of these books by buying them. You don't have to pretend like you want to actually read them.

Ulysses, you can throw the rest in the bin

Actually, it's not illegal if they're out of copyright.

As a book, or download? because I can't stand reading books on a screen, I'd gladly pay money not too, and I know i could probably get them all as a pdf.

You are a fucking imbecile. Read my post again.

A Tale of Two Cities is very good. Not the best Dickens by any means, but still, even a subpar Dickens is better than none at all.

I actually do want to read them, the thing is I probably won't be able to go through all of them in the near future hence this thread.

I glanced through it and found that the huge run-on sentences might be rather irritating, is that so?

I used to browse /b/ a lot nothing can shook me anymore unless it's animal gore :(

A relaxed person isn't always on the attack. I just read three of your posts that were nothing but attacks.

>> No.1940112

hey op

i'd start with Dorian Gray. it reads amazingly and is very entertaining throughout. next i'd read the Dickens, then Byron or Burgess, and Ulysses last. the more you read before attempting Joyce, the better.

hope this helps, congrats on the bargains!

Isn't their some slight allusion to Dorian gray in Ulysses (I remember reading the first 10 pages about 1-2 years ago) and my Ulysses edition has some kind of Anthony Burgess comment on the back praising Ulysses as "the greatest novel of the century". so it seems like some kind of omen to read them first.
