Brazillians sometimes "translate" portuguese books to fit their dialect, I thought maybe Mexico did the same.

The one I've read is Grossman and it's fine, but I'm thinking of getting the Jarvis translation when I decide to re-read it.

Smollett. Grossman's is a marketing scam and boring and unfunny.

There has recently been a renderization into modern Spanish to make the books easier to read for kids. That's the closest you'll get to that.

I think it affects the ambience of the book,
I can read modern Greek and so i know from experience when comparing translation you can lose a lot of nuance, especially in descriptions of people and places. The idea is the more faithful the translation the more true it will be to the author's intent, but of course even in a dodgy translation, as long as the major strokes remain mostly the same you'll get the gist of most books.

Tldr: not hugely important, just figured might as well get other's opinions before i order it.

I was also procrastinating studying for my exams
