Scatology is humorous in the abstract, comedians literally crowbar "the shit" into their sets for a reason - it gets a laugh from the average attendee. Children's media is saturated with references to toileting because it's something immediate, obvious and generally universal to anyone that's ever defecated into a bowl of water on the regular.
