Why does every worthwhile book have to cost ~$30 at minimum? And then there's the retarded shipping prices Amazon charges. I feel like getting my pdfs printed at a copyshop would be cheaper.

My guess is he's looking for some philosophy-related secondary text (i.e not literature!) released by the university presses.

What you're describing is literally called "the literature" by academics lol. I wanted to see if I could acquire a tangible copy of the book for cheap, but alas, there were none

Vrin is a french publisher specialised in philosophy. Their shop is right by the Sorbonne. Professors from all over the world order there, and visit when they're in town.
The giant bookshop is Gibert, on the other side of the street. It stocks pretty much everything throughout five floors.
