What's your spring semester looking like? For me, fall was a beast and spring was laid back... 14 credits to include modern philosophy and a creative writing workshop with Fridays off.

My spring semester is an overload of 18 semester hours again, except I have more fun seminars on things like witch hunting and an advanced Latin class. This semester is just terrible because I have alot of "local" history courses so I have to go all the time to my provincial archives and it is just really hard to balance my time with that and do all the other little projects that are consistently due
>>19286603
and yeah I am an undergrad, 4th year history with minor in French. I like academia and the thinking thing but my schedule this semester is going to kill me.
>>19286519
Yes but there is too much reading and writing in too little a time space. I have 7 weeks of american history lectures (online pre-recorded) to make up for before my midterm this Friday, which would be easy except for the fact that I have a thousand other things to do in the hours before

>Memed myself into doing archaeology as part of my degree
Fuck me is it boring.
Reading history is very interesting, and leaves a lot of time for my social life.
Archaeology is a complete waste of time, is utterly contradictory and full of various ideologs who think they know better than the historians writing only a few dozen to couple of hundred years after these events.

Pathetic.

I work 40 hours, study 20 hours and read 12 hours a week. Also have a kid.

Why?

I choose to, the more money I can leave my child when I die the better, although despite the financial inventive, I won’t work away for more than 2 days.

You are fully aware that saving doesn't work anymore, right? Inflation will eat it. You have to invest, and with the way in which finance works, that's a crapshoot and you might very well get obliterated in another 2008 style meltdown.

Be grateful. They gutted my undergrad in its final year and I was left with like 12 contact hours and shit-all readings. Nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs, drink, and fuck. It's the root of my current degeneracy.

you're gonna have to learn to digest info faster/more efficiently. speed read, read the first/last sentence of each paragraph and mark it if you think it's crucial to understand the greater piece then go back and fully read the ones you have designated, can you split readings w/ a classmate where each of you give each other an outline of the reading that wasn't part of their division of labor. these are tips that were useful to me in law school; i imagine i had to read a great deal more then than you as an undergrad do

>still constantly behind on at least one class because I slacked off at the start of the semester
>can barely read more than 20 pages a day because ingesting info is all I fucking do every day and I rarely have enough time to come down from the tiredness after studying to enjoy reading
I really don't know if I'll even finish one book before this semester is over, and I was hoping to have read 5 by now. Now all I'm reading is battle manga since they require a fraction of my brain to enjoy. Unironically what do?

Cliffnotes and ratemyprofessor will save your life. I never used Spark/Cliffnotes because I thought my teachers would instantly see through me in high school. It didn't occur to me until much later in life my classmates were writing plot summaries instead of an analysis.
