Job
You can just feel how despondent the person who wrote it was
All those soliloquys come straight from the heart, only a person that's deeply troubled could communicate those.
you can see that the eventual "answer" from god to all the questions posed is purposely written as strawmannish and irrelevant to the questions themselves, as if the author is forcing the common cultural answer to his troubles onto himself, with the lack of satisfaction and obvious dissonance being crystal clear.
Would not be surprised if he an hero'd after writing that

I just PEED in a woman's VAGINA. The PEE was so warm it made her PEE out of her VAGINA. Then the PEE from her VAGINA trinkled down my throat. Tomorrow I will turn that PEE in into more PEE and then PEE into her VAGINA again.

Also, I would say the King James Bible is the best version.

Matthew. Sometimes when I try to do a read-through of the Gospels I don't get all the way through, so I end up reading that one the most. There's something so mysterious about the fact that it's the first of the Gospels. Obviously the Gospels are the most important part of the Bible, but since scripture is divinely inspired, then so too must be the order. Why then is Matthew the first? Is it just arbitrary? One of them has to be first, I suppose, but why not Mark, since it is the simplest of the Gospels? We may not ever know while we live on this plane.

Psalms, but the entirety of scripture is god-breathed.

The Church Fathers regarded Matthew as the first. Why? Because it makes sense that the direct disciple of Christ would write his Gospel first than Mark or Luke who weren't part of the 12. Also because it is said John wrote his decades later when he was like 80 years old.

Genesis. There are some other stand out moments in other books, but none of them live up to the standard set in genesis.

My top 3:
1. Job
2. Amos
3. John

Why is the NT so hyped up when it's so disappointing? It's just Jesus walking around doing magic and talking in purposely vague riddles.

meant to say gospels. Then again, the rest of the NT is mostly Paul being a grifter and writing fanfic and John writing about an acid trip.

Especially after reading the OT, it becomes apparent very quickly how much easier Greek translates into English than Hebrew does. The NT is a lot easier to read and understand the teachings and the narrative. There's also an element of the text reading better simply because you've probably heard many of the stories in passing, or in church, or somewhere, so it's already more familiar to you. It's kinda like reading the first part of Exodus immediately after watching the Prince of Egypt--even if it's not 1:1, you feel like you are familiar with the story you're reading even before actually reading it.

For me, it's Matthew in NT and Ecclesiastes in OT.
>Go thy ways, then, eat thy bread with a stout heart, and drink wine to thy contenting; that done, God asks no more of thee.
>Ever be thy garments of white, ever let thy brow glisten with oil;
>live at ease with the wife that is thy heart’s love, long as this uncertain life is granted thee; fugitive days, here beneath the sun. Live thou and labour thou under the sun as thou wilt, this thy portion shall be, and nothing more.
>Whatever lies in thy power, do while do it thou canst; there will be no doing, no scheming, no wisdom or skill left to thee in the grave, that soon shall be thy home.
Ecclesiastes 9:7-10, Knox version.
