it's about 650 pages too long. terrible, one dimensional characters. in fact the only character who has a real story is the black guy. King writes books that play out like hollywood movies (every scene has to have a buildup that culminates in violence or action) he's a massive hack.

I prefer Misery and The Shining. The pace is just too slow with IT. Tbh, the horror genre as a whole works better as short stories. Stephen King's short stories like The Boogeyman, The Night Flier, and Graveyard Shift give you all the horror you need without all the fluff of a novel.

I loved IT. I thought it was really cool. But to be fair that's not on basis of character, prose or plot, it just happens to mix several of my favorite things.
