There is a way to escape the inference of superluminal speeds and spooky action at a distance. But it involves absolute determinism in the universe, the complete absence of free will. Suppose the world is super-deterministic, with not just inanimate nature running on behind-the-scenes clockwork, but with our behavior, including our belief that we are free to choose to do one experiment rather than another, absolutely predetermined, including the "decision" by the experimenter to carry out one set of measurements rather than another, the difficulty disappears. There is no need for a faster than light signal to tell particle A what measurement has been carried out on particle B, because the universe, including particle A, already "knows" what that measurement, and its outcome, will be.

>> No.19225970

>>19225959
>the complete absence of free will
You think "free will" is a thing, because you imagine yourself the center of existence. You imagine yourself the center of existence, because if you didn't, you would simply let yourself die
Now, think of yourself as you really are, less than a flee, a speck of dust, a dying spark, and realize, they all "think" of themselves as the center of the universe
Free will is wank. Grown up.
Statistically you might succeed in quitting smoking, or wanking, or overeating, but somehow you never do. Must be that damn devil, huh? Taking a personal interest in your life, because it's all about you.

Determinism does not imply the pre-existence of future outcomes in past states. Them being predictable would be just a function of our own (deterministic) mind, applied to information on the past states. That's like saying that a shooter expecting a bullet to hit some target because he knows the exact properties of the the rifle, the bullet, the distance, the target and the air between them, means that the bullet "knows" about the impact before it happens. There is no information about the impact being transmitted to the bullet before the impact - there is a prediction of impact created by the shooter from analysis of (lightspeed-limited) information that he got beforehand. It's not an escape from anything at all.

Fucking cringe. Channel of pretentious midwits who don't realize they're normie pseuds. They even use contrived indie music in the intro...it's probably from a friend's talentless band. The gayest thing I've seen all week and it's already Thursday.

North America didn't develop booze so it became a huge problem when it was introduced by European settlers. The person you're refuting is dumb and I get that alcohol consumption is pretty much a worldwide phenomenon now (except in certain theocratic states), but that's an important side point.

i mean widespread consumption that is engrained in the culture, which also concerns alcoholism. even pre-islamic arabic people consumed and made alcohol, not so much anymore. as far as I know native American firewater thing came after European colonisation, alcoholism wasn't a problem before that and most of popular alcoholic beverages today are of European origin. you have your greek/mediterennean ouzo and rakia, slavic vodka etc, and beer is predominantly central European. i cant think of any like very popular alcoholic drink that is not of Mediterranean and European origin, sake maybe? I'm not saying only white people can be alcoholic or anything, but in response to that picture beer has always been a white thing be it brewing, distributing and consuming

>didn't develop booze
I should be more clear there. Some of them had booze (mostly in the South) while others didn't. Culturally, it was used more in line with shit like mushrooms/peyote for religious purposes--they didn't produce it en masse for general consumption and what they did make wasn't widespread/common.

It's a universal symbol that, if not every, nearly every culture possessed. The swastika is either an incredibly old symbol that goes back to a time of global peace and harmony that can not be recalled, or it's a symbol that is inherent to man. Either way, it is incredibly powerful.

There used to be a bookstore in Salem Massachusetts like this. Everything stacked on the floor to the ceiling. They were many layers deep, too, so the ones closest to the walls had probably been there for decades. Just walking through the place would send stacks falling over, and this little old man with long fingernails would pop out of a stairway and stack it up again. You'd check out at the register through a gap in the book stacks. I only ever bought one book there (and it was about tools, not /lit/) but I miss the place now.

>widespread consumption that is engrained in the culture
Again, Asia (especially South Korea). Alcohol isn't a distinctly European cultural phenomenon (they just produce high-quality stuff and had a head start in distribution because they industrialized first, were behind the acceleration of international trade, and developed large scale market economies)
>most of the popular alcoholic beverages today are of European origin
No. Beer is ancient and was simultaneously developed across multiple and varied civilizations (since this is /lit I'll point out it's mentioned in Gilgamesh) as was wine.
>i cant think of any like very popular alcoholic drink that is not of Mediterranean and European origin
Rice spirits (e.g. sake, which you mentioned, and soju are just two examples). They just aren't as popular outside of Asia--they're still widely consumed by non-Western cultures (especially in South Korea, again).

Listen, you should download Tinder and try to match with a South Korean fob. Get her to take you to a Korean bar and you'll notice they have their own socialization rituals and drinking customs. Alcohol consumption is a global phenomenon and its roots go all the way back to varied ancient and culturally distinct civilizations (some of which were even preliterate). Globalization has lead to homogenization, to the point where a lot of Western customs have become standard, but that doesn't mean we invented alcohol and introduced it to the world (nor does it erase the fact varying cultures have developed and consumed alcoholic beverages, complete with their own sets of social customs and etiquette).
