That book is thought provoking as hell, especially if you go into the bibliography and start reading the books he’s citing. It’s a very weird rabbit hole to go down

There's some interesting stuff in the Quran. If you're into the Talmud, midrash, apocrypha, and pseudopigrapha, you'll see that the Quran borrows a lot of elements from those resources. Some stories are lifted directly from those sources. It's got interesting poetry too (though Muslims will deny that it is poetry, even while it is rhythmic, rhyming verse, insisting that the rhymes in the Quran are "different" somehow).

Based and Christ-Pilled.
I've always wondered why it is that people go after the one religion that is historically verified, and shows the fewest signs of historical revisionism.
Is it because religious parents are overbearing, or just a fear of being called racist for criticizing something that primarily brown people believe?

>It's got interesting poetry
its prose.
>though Muslims will deny that it is poetry, even while it is rhythmic, rhyming verse
It isn't straight prose or rhymed prose primarily. It is divided into verses which break where the speech ends, and it then resumes and repeats in the following verses. I think the absence of consistent meter is what differs it from all other forms of poetry.

Basically a ton of early Islamic shit isn’t quite Islamic. The earliest Mosques do not point towards Mecca, they face Petra. Certain early documentations of Muhammad and Islam which are supposedly relics from the earliest Muslim groups, for instance the Dome on the Rock inscription, are actually from old Nestorian communities. Muhammad’s life is a historical fiction that grants legitimacy to the ruling powers of the time

The Quran is a short book that can be read in a single sitting. It was frequently memorised in its entirety in the past (and still is actually). It’s short!

These massive 1,000 page “qurans” are a marketing thing for the western audience, because the western conception of a holy book is a massive tome (the Bible). By just padding it with pages of useless shit it adds more gravitas to the printing in the western mind.

The genius of the “study Quran” is that the padding is an apology that makes the Quran more palpable to western sensibilities.

Taylor Swift has really pretty feet.

Bruh, have you listened to the entire Qur'an recited? Reciting the Qur'an in measure takes about a month among laypeople. Youre not supposed to read the Qur'an like youre reading a fairytale, nor are you supposed to read the OT and NT like that too. It's supposed to be recited(in its original language, which christians do not understand). a huge part of scripture that often goes underlooked among westerners is the rhyming, aliteration and little nuances that really makes a difference.

>>19158232
The Qur'an was sent down by God in the Arabic language. If you can't read/understand Arabic, you should listen to its recitation while reading its translation.

I was so close to converting to Islam until a Christian friend of mine beat me over the head with arguments akin to what this image shows. At first I didn’t want to take them seriously, but the more I pondered it, the more troubling it became, and eventually through prayer, despite what I would have chosen myself, God revealed that I was to follow Jesus to me, and so I became a Christian. I am thankful that I was kept away from this religion. God bless

Don't forget the bits about the Qur'an being rewritten multiple times and the most poetic parts being completely ripped from the Syriac Bible.

>> No.19160853

>>19160783
Well, yes. The Qur'an is the revelation of one prophet while the Bible is all the revelations before (and its additions to it).
The Bible is larger, which is why people don't recite it. But the Qur'an is actually quite long. Plus, I wouldn't trust a ((Clear)) and ((Easy to Understand)) (((Modern))) English translation of the Qur'an.
