A friend and I are embarking on a reading of the Philosophical Investigations. We've already got copies, but we're looking out for critical works/commentaries/etc in the inevitable event that we find ourselves in over our heads. Any advice, /lit/?

I don't know of anything specific and comprehensive, but a lot of the subject matter of Philosophical Investigations allows its conclusions to be corroborated or disputed with psychology and MAAYBE sociology. The sociology work would have to rely on statistics and not the literary sociological tradition. Look up the latest psychology journal articles and experiments. The huge focus in psychology lately actually concerns individual cognitive processes, especially memory.

We're both looking to make sure we understand what Wittgenstein is saying first (my second major is philosophy and he's linguistics by way of sociology, so Witt comes up a lot but we've never had the chance to actually read him, hence the project), so looking for more along the lines of something like this:

but I'll definitely keep it in mind. I never really considered psychology as particularly related to Wittgenstein, but again, I mostly deal with him in the context of philosophy classes. Thanks for the tip.
