19040779 No.19040779 [Reply] [Original]

>The physical world came out of a pre-existing essence where everything resides in a primordial state and has gone through the changes of multiple eras
>the first era was always ruled by the Gods
>time is cyclical and not linear
>heaven and earth were once one and eventually they separated
>this age will come to an end and another age of man will begin
Why are abrahamic religions the only religious cults where these elements are absent? You can find all of them in Japanese, Chinese, Hindu, Greek, Norse, and even Polynesian and Native American religions yet they just didn't make it into the abrahamic traditions. Could it be that Judaism, Christianity and Islam are one big lie and the true religions are the pre-christian ones through which the Gods manifested themselves to all peoples?

Christ is preexistent. He is also prefigured in the Old Testament, just before "Krishna" appears in India.

Krishna is a demon appropriating a facsimile of Christ in order to direct people who have not heard the Gospel towards Satan. Read Scripture.

I think there is an element to that, yes, because it came from Jews. I mean come on, the people known all through history as being compulsive liars. But I also think as the yugas progressed the religions got dumber and dumber/dumbed down because the people got dumber and dumber and unable to understand the higher gnosis of the mysteries. It became easier to tell them to listen and believe or you go to hell etc.

If I were to guess, it would be the belief in progress that characterizes Judaism and by extension Christianity far more than other religions. Especially when you look at the early Christian and Jewish martyrs, you are touched by a fervent belief in their capacity to "usher in the kingdom". Also, if you have to say "pre-Christian", you are contradicting the assertion that these allegedly true religions had shown themselves to "all peoples".

In terms of religious beliefs, Jesus and Krishna are considered eternal by their respective followers.

Historically speaking, the cult of Krishna-Vasudeva already existed in the 4th century BC and likely originated before then. Veneration of Krishna is mentioned in Patanjali's Ashtadhyayi 4.3.98, dating to the 4th century BC. Krishna of course is a key figure in the Mahabharata, the earliest parts of which date to the 5th or 4th centuries BC. Worship of Jesus obviously starts after his death in the 30s AD. So Krishna worship is far older.

Not the same fag who asked the question but I have to tell you: recommending the Gita as something evocative of Hinduism in general strikes me as an error. It's my favorite book, but it's easily the black-sheep of Hindu thinking. For instance, where else are you going to find the idea that sankhya and yoga are not antipodes which is nearly omniscient in the Song of God? Especially since it is primarily a pragmatic texts and metaphysics are only brought in to bolster the ultra-pragmatic yoga.

This is why the Gita is so good though. Abstract metaphysics are going to be useless unless you're in a literal ashram

Based. +10 respect. The Gita — if you are able to live within the divine yoga (which really amounts to a restructuring of the relationship between ego and self)— will reform you into a man-of-steel. Even if you're a bastard like Ravana, tapas can be made perfect.

I absolutely agree. I'm moreso saying that since ontology is not the main focus in-itself, perhaps it would be more confusing when trying to understand "essence". However, as anon said, it is also a very good didactic tool and entry-point.

I disagree. If you are trying to pursue the path of metaphysics or knowledge to the fullest, it’s best to go about it in the traditional manner; but even so, simply studying the metaphysical texts on ones own time as a hobby or as part of ones autodidact pursuits can still lead to you having extremely profound and perspective-altering insights or spiritual realizations.

read nietzsche
the need of a "creator, absolute, god" can only exist in religion with a trascendental world, the problem of infinite regresion is only relevant to those kinds of religions, politheistic religions with local gods just don't care about a first cause beyond all causes, since it's an ilogical abstraction, a phenomenological infinite cycle is much more adecuate to express how time is presented to us humans

The impulse to search for an objective linear understanding of time appears to be in-line with getting outside of ourselves and establishing an objective empirical basis apart from subjective phenomena (as well as a belief in progress). Pagan disbelief in progress ironically seems to have majorly hampered their progress and allowed them to be overcome by (even more ironically) external forces. In this linear time/progressivism we can see the abrahamic religions share a common ancestry with science, although Islam shows far more of the conservative suspicion and dislike of change. These may be "illogical abstractions" within the logic of the system of thought, however; they are vindicated everytime you open a freezer and find your things frozen. It may be good at characterizing subjective experience but the issue is you aren't a discrete unit, nor are you a merely atomic. It's hard to be solipsistic when you are conditioned in part from outside and progress in tangible in human achievement desu. Have you read Gadamer's works on hermeneutics?

they lead the scientific world in the middle ages, which was the worst era for science, the most important contributions were saving the greek canon from extintion and some math
but they also destroyed the library of alexandria and many other centers of knowledge, all in the name of their "only god", while i don't think monotheistic religion are pure evil, we can't ignore that the idea of a one ture/one god paradigm could lead to levels of ntolerance and dogmatism that are the polar opposite of the spirit of scientific and philosophical progress
