You reminded me anon.
At my old work we had meetings once in a while. Before it started, some participators had a task to do. One of the tasks was "wisdom for the day".
People tasked with that normally found a sentence or two on google "best smart quotes about love" or something.
But I was autistic.
When they tasked me with the wisdom for the day, I gave them three long quotes from various authors related to each other, one of them being from Oswald Spengler.
>We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way. Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who, during the eruption of Vesuvius, died at his post because they forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one thing that can not be taken from a man.
My wisdom for the day took over 20 minutes of the meeting. They didn't interrupt. I ended with some takes on Hegel's Phenomenology because why not. It was peak kino.

It is a mystic-romantic-tragic type of view. Very appealing and poetic way of seeing things, though also depressing if you live in a period of decline. Barely anyone really agrees with Spengler I've noticed, they dont want to accept the inevitability of decline.

If the answer must be based on DW, then a spenglerian person would be one that doesn't like the desvirtuation of natural and evolutionary traits like this or that civilization or this or that social role. This may sound as a vulgar explanation if you don't comprehend that Spengler's implied notion of "natural" isn't equivalent to that of trad-larp brainlets.

Spengler belongs firmly to 19th century Germany, even in the 1910s he seemed very old fashioned. His whole system seems like something that would be dreamed up in 1830, not the 20th century. The only modern aspect is the relativism

>regards culture as the growth and flourishing of a tribe
>regards civilization as the deterioration of culture into nothingness

No the whole point if that civilization is a metaphysical organism(that part isn't relativist), which is completely out of place in the 20th century

He is right. And Spengler is amazing(and a bestseller of his time) because of that.

It means giving him a lot of credit for predictions he may or may not have gotten right, while completely ignoring the ones he most definitely, without a shadow of a doubt got wrong.
