I drink seltzers casually in social situations but your comment really flipped the switch in my head. There really is no reason to not just drink vodka and club soda/seltzer. It's even healthier, as far as drinking can be healthy.

I don't know lol. Ashenden is the first book I read by him. I wanted to read it because Alfred Hitchcock used it as the basis for his film Secret Agent. I'll probably read Honolulu next, because I'm from Honolulu.

after reading this i read conversations by cesar airas which i didn't really enjoy. it was interesting and clever for about 30 pages before the shtick got stale and annoying. well written, regardless, but not my taste. i sped read to the end and don't feel i missed much.

then i started reading the sailor that fell from grace with the sea. i'm about a third into that now and will finish it tomorrow. i wasn't impressed really until the bit where the boys meet up and their strange nihilistic club gets going with the kitty violence, which was horrific but mesmerising. the bits with the mother and the sailor were so-so. the boy is the interesting character.

Try pipes. They're way cheaper than nice cigars and taste just as good, if not better. A corncob costs $4.95 and an ounce of bulk tobacco costs the same price.
