Tragedy and Hope is not conspiracy unless it's interpreted by people who know what they want to hear beforehand (see books such as The Naked Capitalist and what Quigley has to say about it). It is well established truths contained in this gargantuan book, and Quigley is a very good scholar overall. (Check out his Evolution of Civilizations, absolutely fantastic analysis of macrohistory).

Jay is stuck in a rabbit hole of paranoia. He's mostly mistaken in his conclusions regarding geopolitics despite being factually very informed and well read generally. I think the issue is his predilection towards infusing topics with symbolism that there's no concrete proof of is there, or assuming intent when there's no indication of the originator(s) goals. His work on Hollywood, despite being good in some parts, fails in being convincing in its overarching (though often implied, not directly stated) claims.

However, Jay is very very good at analyzing theology and philosophy with a high degree of clarity. I love his talks on orthodoxy. Even made me consider Christianity as a viable holistic world view.

I've read a chapter or 2 of picrel so far. It's pretty solid, the author's writing style is similar to Pat Buchanan's and it was written in the '80s so it can be a little boomer-y. Good regardless though.

Rothbard writes about behind-the-door dealings all the time and he isn't psycho in the slightest because - being an active academician - he is prepared to back up his every sentence. When _he_ says that an election was stolen then you can be pretty fucking sure that this particular election was stolen. When a candidate dies just before the election he just says that a candidate died, because obviously he cannot prove who killed him.
