Is there anything more annoying than a book cover that has been revised to advertise that there is now an accompanying film?

Pic related: awesome book; annoying and altered cover.

Nope, but if the book has a movie tie-in, it would be easy to find online. Why would you buy it?

And if you really love the book then get it in hardcover or a better edition.

This has alwas thrown me off too. It actually heavily influences my potential interest in a book and whether or not I'll pick it up and check it out, ridiculous as it sounds.

I hate this as well, the only exception being A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood because I am super gay for Colin Firth.

I have a first edition hardcover of it.

Yeah me too. I was just shopping online for a copy of Carl Sagan's "Contact," and everywhere I look the front of the book is stained with a photo of Jodie Foster and Matthew Mcconaughey :(

It was especially frustrating for me maybe eight or nine years ago. This was back before utilizing online mediums was the foremost way to buy books. I was trying to buy a LOTR trilogy boxset and the only one they were offering was a lame movie tie-in piece with stills from the films on the covers and advertisements peppered throughout the box and the inside covers.

MWF I just now googled and realized that Colin Firth played Mr. Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that played constantly at my house as a child.

That looks decent though. If Sean Astin's profile wasn't as recognizable that could be passed off as just being a publication from the 80s/90s. This is more like the set I regrettably bought.

I owned a copy of the two towers with christopher lee splattered on the front. But I was like 13 so I didn't give a fuck.
