Where an alpha masters the dominance hierarchy and the sigma stands outside it, Bataille transcends this binary both being at the top AND transcending the hierarchy. He is the inventor of based materialism ffs.

Accursed share is an interesting concept and his coomer stories are also great writing. Probably one of the few times when writing both philosophy and stories didn't turn to complete shit for at least one side (looking at you Mr. Land)
That said though, his stories always had pretty weak endings imo. Both story of the eye and Mother just kinda fizzled out.

>> No.18774433

>>18774185
I don't think the eye fizzled out over more than around one page: the last page of his books are just his weakest point.

Just started reading the Accursed Share. Really solid shit, I finally unlocked the meaning of the Solar Anus meme, pretty nihilistic imo but maybe there's some positive side to Bataille out of the transgression against the order of objects he lays out, since mass sacrifice doesn't seem to be the best way of breaking the grip of Capital.

fav and least fav pessoa heteronym? me, personally, I gotta go with alberto caeiro for my favourite one, and ricardo reis for my least favourite. caeiro's soft master that's deeply rooted in nature without exhausting it makes his poetry very subtle and delicate, yet with a firm grip on the reader. meanwhile, reis always presents itself as a wimp, hiding behind muh stoicism to appear cool in front of everyone. cool character, but I find his writings to be the least appealing

Given what you're getting mad about, I have to assume you're some kind of tradsneed, in which case I am sure I don't need to even bother with looking for tiktoks of Christian pastors in rainbow vestaments, you've seen them given that this is all you think about

First of all.
What a fucking boring world we live in where the only avenue for expenditure is people bored being at home isolated.
Secondly it talks to our general logic of capitalism that fx. in denmark where i live all the fun things like clubs and concerts are still closed. It's also fun how football is allowed how nobody can stop that mass engagement in expenditure. Scary how the excess has been transformed into idealisms in the form of paranoid conspiracy theories. How the act of shitting and cleaning your ass was so emphasized in the beginning when this collective anal contraction happened (in the freudian sense)

Idk, I'm half asleep.

A stretch but maybe you could argue that the burghers, i.e. the ignoble hoarders of surplus with no traditional sense of public expenditure or oblige, have finally found something to potlach after all: YOU. You are the one who gets to get the cough and participate in the massive trial run of new medicinal technologies, have to return to physical work or work in a shared (i.e. burgher-owned) physical space proximate to other coughers, or have been doing so all along, and this is all framed as your civic duty to the society, while they get to be remote forever and only appear to have losses. The wealthiest actually profited from all this so long as they did not sell when markets crashed. The sacrificed share was the surplus labor, businesses that were less valuable, and so forth.

The only one I know (because it is easily the weirdest) is that there is a portion of the productive energies of a society that literally cant be invested or consumed in the usual way, and has to be expended through some kind of extravagant waste, either through art or war or something. Thats the accursed share.

>> No.18780589

>>18779363
The Accursed Share is basically the excess of energy that is not used for the growth or reproduction of a system. Think of a billionaire who has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it, it can longer be used for utility purposes. So, he spends it on extravagant items that display his power or rank, he throws banquets and gives philantrophic gifts. All of this he does without any expectation of return, it is a waste. Bataille's idea of the Solar Anus is essentially the genetic element of the Accursed Share, all life on Earth is in a sense a waste product of the Sun which functions as a pure singularity of ejection or ek-stasis of energy. This results in an over-abundance of energy circulating the planet, leading to more and more complex lifeforms, each more wasteful and excessive than the last (with the human brain perhaps taking the crown position here). In fact, death itself is merely a byproduct of this process of individuation (along with sexual reproduction). When it comes to human society, some societies are quite aware of the place of excess, others not so much. Bataille gives us the examples of Industrial Capitalist society which centers around Production rather than Consumption, leading to a system of objectivities and pure utilitarianism. He gives the examples of the Aztecs and Natives as societies of consumption, the role of the Potlatch (wasting valuable resources for nothing in return, such as killing slaves in front of a rival or burning one's own village, wasting food on exuberant feasts, etc..) and human sacrifice both serve as means to a sort of self-consciousness of the Accursed Share. This self-consciousness allows the Subject to enter into a purer Subjectivity because he negate the utility of the object by essentially treating it as the excess that it is.
