b-butterfly, these two books aren't even on the same topic. The tragedy of great power politics is a work of international relations theory while origins of political order is on state formation and political development. they aren't similar books at all.

oriental despotism by wittfogel is better.

Yes. Most people who criticise that book obviously hasn't read it. We're clearly living during a time when liberal democracies have no serious ideological opponents. Online fascist/Marxist larpers does not count.
However, he never argues that today's status quo will last forever. He's open to the very probable scenario that there will be ideological shifts in the future.
