is there a more comprehensive list in chronological order? aren't the /lit/ lists derived from the most read greek works? there must be some that are missing, so i wanted to know if there is a more comprehensive 'start with the greeks' list. thanks.

the standard rule is you start and end with Parmenides.

There's no reason to read anything that came before or after him as none of it will matter anymore after you've read him.

Contrary to what /lit/ pseuds say, you should start and end with the Bible.

These are mostly shitposts with meme philosophers. The real answer is unironically Parmenides and the Eleatic bros. They'll change your mind and change everything for you.

Stories From Ancient Caanan was a lot of fun. I assume you are following part of the “begin with the Bronze Age” and third Greeks chart from the lit wiki? I’m doing same.

does anyone know what the difference is between graves & hamilton? does one gain anything from reading graves if you have mythology?

Check Bloom's list. Although he later admitted that he included it because of publisher's request, it's a solid starter.
http://sonic.net/~rteeter/grtbloom.html

Alternatively you can go with PICREL as well.

Both of these are way better than any list /lit/ would give you.

His interpretation is fanciful but reasonable. He’s also more thorough even if you leave off those parts. Hamilton doesn’t go over as much

Graves also goes more into the Joseph Campbell style musings on what the myths represent. “This demigod started out as a fertility figure and shifted into this other form over time, this myth probably refers to a tribal chieftain” kind of thing. A bit outdated, but still interesting.

Is that a required reading list? How much is that worth were you to buy the physical versions of those books, and not get them from libgen?
