War and Peace VS Anna Karenina, which do you prefer and why?

Anna Karenina, because I have an insatiable lust for Anna's sweet pussy

AK simply for the Levin + Kitty story.

based. The part where Levin joins his peasants in mowing the fields is peak comfy

my parents are buying a farm and next summer I'm gonna larp as Levin by doing some harvesting with a scythe. I'm looking forward to that a lot so i'm gonna go with Anna Karenina over War and Peace. Both great books though.

Which one do I start with lads? I got both of them.

War and Peace. Pierre and Prince Andre were very memorable characters and the main families and their dynamics were more interesting. AK was still very good though.

Doesnt matter. Both are great. It comes to personal taste which one you will enjoy more

I love BK from Dosto which is closer to it?

>> No.18713882

>>18713826
Neither of them are anything like BK. I guess Anna Karenina is closer and Levin's existential struggle is similar to themes in BK but, again, it's nothing remotely similar.
Tolstoy deals with the psychology of the average person whereas Dosto tends to deal with the manic edges of society

Thank you anon(s) for your answers. I am currently reading The Soul of the World from Scruton. After I am diving into some Tolstoy with either WP or AK. I still do not know which one I will start with. One thing I know, from reading half a dozen of Tolstoy's short storiies, is that I won't be disapointed. Tolstoy & Dosto are in the top 3 GOAT.

no problem anon. Just another bit of advice, when you read War and Peace feel free to just completely ignore the second epilogue. It's just a 60 page essay where Tolstoy expounds philosophy which is something the book on it's own has more than enough of. The second epilogue doesn't feature any of the characters or continue the plot, it is literally just a 60 page essay that I skip every time I revisit W&P

war and peace is pretty fascinating if you have any interest in the history of the napoleonic wars, tolstoy weaves in quite a bit and the guy obviously knew his shit
