To anyone that has actually read Evola, what books would you recommend one to start with? What would you say someone should follow with thereafter? Thanks in advance

start with the greeks

Which Greeks exactly? The Attic philosophers? The Athenians? Please elaborate

What if I did not have the time or money to buy the Greeks' books, which Evola book would be the best starting point then?

>> No.18703120

His big 3 books are Revolt Against the Modern World, Ride the Tiger, and Men Among the Ruins. That last one should probably be The Path of Cinnabar instead. I’ll just go ahead and tell you that I got really deep into Evola a while back and I pretty much regret it. You’d be better off going directly to Nietzsche, de Maistre, or Guenon.

Any specific reason, anon?

>> No.18703296

>>18703248
Evola assumes the reader is already familiar with those writers, and the greatest offender out of the three is Ride the Tiger, where he discusses Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Sartre. His political books are much easier to read than his esoteric ones.

start with this BEFORE Evola or you will never understand him or any religo/philosophical work because you havent been "initiated" into the mysteries and the knowledge all esoteric works are based on

I have read Revolt Against the Modern World and it is excellent. A thorough knowledge of ancient and medieval history and mythos would assist the reader in understanding his philosophy.

I will say though that you must have an open mind and be compared to completely reject your modern notion of freedom. If you consider yourself a 'right winger' you probably won't after reading Evola.

Evola died in the 70s. Sartre published Being and Nothingness in the 40s.

Im going off this chart for now. It’s the best Evola guide I’ve found anyway.
