I find that I can't describe the reasons I like things. With books, everything seems to just kind of go through me. Like something going in through one ear and out of the other. I read fast and I think that might be taking away from me being able to critically think about why I enjoyed something.
Any tips to help with this?

I tend to do analyze books comparing sensations and feelings. Using my own experience, projections of the experiences of other people and what other people wrote about the same things.

But how do I analyze this book so that I may analyze other books?

Why would you want to? Try reading Harold Bloom's fiction and then ask yourself how much so that analysis is really worth.
