Well that was fucking great. I loved it.

Made a thread right before reading it here and you guys said I ought to watch the movie afterwards, so I came to ask you which one? I'll actually probably watch both, but which is better? The 1946 one or the 1978 one? Which is truer to the novel?

Are Chandler's other Phillip Marlowe books as good as The Big Sleep?

They're all good, except perhaps the final one in the series. If you like Chandler try out Dashiell Hammett, his predecessor, and Ross Macdonald, his successor. Macdonald doesn't get as much love these days for some reason but I'd pit some of his novels - The Chill is my favorite for sheer mindfuckery - vs. anything of Chandler's.
