All of these shelves are pseud. You can tell because you guys have "classics" but nothing that shows actual personality. Look at an actual academics shelf and you have 70 academic books on specific topics related to their research. You guys just have Dante hardcover Plato hardcover etc etc. How about actually study something seriously once in your life. Your shelf will get filled with obscure specialized kino

yes, plato’s works are actually interesting to read. if you actually read them instead of caring how unique and not-pseud your interests are, you would know. also, people like collecting book editions to have a nice looking shelf, similar to anyone who collects anything.

The philosophy itself isn't pseud it's having only popular classics and nothing else. It shows you guys don't actually have any interests. If you were interested in the philosophy of language you wouldn't have just one popular book you would have everything needed to actually understand the subject.

Instead of just buying one book maybe venture out and start reading and picking up copies of Frege, Quine, Strawson, Searle, Austin, Davidson etc. Get into topics like Montague Semantics. Pick up books like Truth and Meaning, Logico-Linguistic Papers, Language Thought and Reality, Reference and Essence. I don't see the shelves of someone reading for their own enjoyment here. This selection is all externally directed. The true lover of literature is spontaneous and eclectic, spends hours digging through stacks in dusty used book shops and emerges with a stack of treasures and oddities that pique his interests at the time.

There is a small part of me that kinda likes how contemporary woke culture is making the classics taboo. There's no surer way to increase interest in something than to forbid it. A new generation of readers will come to the texts for the very reason that they're not allowed.

I understand that they're likely to come to a bowlderized/shitty translation, but still the principle is sound.
