America is always chasing about the Great American Novel, but what would be a contender for the Great British Novel, Great French Novel or Great Russian Novel?

there's hardly anything from the 19th century. any list that doesn't include The Last of the Mohicans, The Scarlet Letter, and Henry James is a sham. There are also 0 major postmodern novels and hardly any major modernist novels (dos Passos' U.S.A. isn't there). And there's way too much genre fiction, trendy authors that won't be remembered (Eugenides), and just plain filler.

>0 major postmodern novels
Good.
>hardly any major modernist novels
So it still needs improvement, from hardly any to none.
