Is this book the ultimate midwit filter?
If you didn't understand the whole thing on your first read, I have bad news...

It's impossible to really understand without a copious helping of secondary literature:

most arguments are not complete and have had to be reconstructed by scholars,

there are no clear definitions of the new terms he is creating,

he crafts a new language by using words from other fields (e.g. 'deduction' from the legal jargon)

a lot of terms he uses take up different meanings as the argument evolves, and he is never clear on how these meanings are connected (it's not even clear he was aware of this confusion)

there is still an ongoing debate on how some of his central arguments run, on what he set out to do, and on to what extent he succeeded

So, I'm sorry man, but if you really think you understood that book on your first reading, you are most likely deluding yourself.

I personally enjoy Israeli scholar Yirmiyahu Yovel's systematic explication of the first Critique, titled "Kant's Philosophical Revolution".

This. Also, fuck Kant. Driest philosopher ever. Took 800 pages to say you can know external objects because you have preconditions to do so in your mind. Fucking kek.

Rather if you think that you completely understand it on the first read then I have bad news...

This isn't even to mention that you're reading the work in translation: so half of your understanding is at the mercy of the translator.
