The channels that create these playlists are obvious content farms run for profit, and people listening to them are probably casual internet surfers that are getting their first taste of classical music or aesthetics. You’d probably shit your pants with anger if you saw 60s hippies or 90s goth kids enjoying their lives.

Those were trends, not larps. Those kids didn't dream about being 19th century villains holy kek.

Imagining yourself in a comfy setting is okay, but appropriating cultural imagery of the past for your mental dress-up party is detrimental to culture itself. These people don't realize that larping always ruins the object of the larp.

Also, if the current world is so shit that you can't resist the temptation of escapism, which is understandable, then do something to make this world better, you stupid useless whore. (Not you, anon, I'm addressing the average person who is into this fake shit).

Mahler desu, especially his Ruckert-Lieder and Symphonies 2,5,8,9. Also Brahms but start with his violin concerto and go from there. Tchaikovsky and Glazunov for Russians, R.Strauss and Mendelssohn for Krauts plus others mentioned. Debussy and (some) Ravel for French. Sibelius has some good stuff.

>Those kids didn't dream about being 19th century villains holy kek
Goth kids did specifically that, and new age types held drug sessions where they imagined themselves as shamans or something. As a matter of fact, the word ‘larp’ itself has been popularised by 80s subculture (not sure about other countries, but in my country it was originally mostly associated with Tolkien nerds). And historical reenactment has existed as long as history itself did, probably. You could claim that these people didn’t literally imagine themselves in a historical or fantasy setting and just dressed up as an entertainment, but can’t the same be said about kids listening to these YouTube compilations?
> appropriating cultural imagery of the past
Ironically, this is exactly what XIX century romanticism was.
