The show is above average for modern entertainment, especially for comic book adaptations, I still think it's mostly garbage but it managed to do pull off the Omni-Man character (like so many "famous characters" of low culture), he is the unoriginal repetition of a character found in classic literature, the all-powerful male which faces some sort of a moral crisis, which in all reality goes back to a mortal Zeus.

But given most people do not know this cultural context it attracts them for what it is, and has no greater meaning. In this sense, the characters are above the average character of modern entertainment. But I haven't watched the show and have no desire to.

It obviously does possess novelty for people because they have absolutely no awareness of the greater import of the characters or themes. Truth be told, if some part of a classic theme is essentially still there, it can always be novel to view them over and over again, in whatever their interpretation, but this animation is literally a comic book interpretation, it is a comical presentation of power for example, among others, of its shallowness.

In the same way the (now-cliche) story of a robot becoming conscious comes from the far more profound homunculus of alchemy and Faust.
