You clearly didn't read it. Jesus dies 4 times about 2/3 of the way through. But not really "dead." Then at the end, they tell us he's coming back for another tour. Pretty shit and inconsistent storytelling, if you ask me.

Idk, I think everyone should give it a chance and read it, not from a religious aspect but from a literature aspect. This book has had huge influence on many writers and the ability to see the many allusions in many of the great writers books is a plus.
but then again idk, i myself have no even read it, but i plan on reading it.

The Egyptians had the sun deity....The Greeks many gods....It goes on and on. Our life is just a fraction of time that will be looked upon with the same outlook we see the Egyptian gods and Greek gods.

Of the books that were left out of the Bible, did any of them survive? If so, is there any way to read them online? I remember searching for the texts once but all that came up was descriptions of the books.

Unfortunately, Christianity, in addition to other religions, is absolutely woven into the populations of societies that have global political power. It started when the Romans embraced it, and has been essentially the government supported religion of every western nation since. Though much of the west is becoming secular, there is no denying the influence Christianity had and still has on society. Europe will never be free until the fall of the Roman Catholic Chuch, and in the U.S. where Catholicism is weaker, the Evangelical church will have to fall before we can truly classify Christianity as a mythology of a past age.
