Invisible Cities or Exercises in Style. Same thing over and over but with new context, relentlessly single minded but not.

i love this answer because in high school adored invisible cities hardcore and listened to nothing but shoegaze and noise pop and this makes it feel cohesive, butt i think your description of shoegsze isnt fair it sounds like you're describing krautrock or even techno rather than shugazi. shouldnt a shoegaze book bring us teenage melancholy with thick texture i. e. densly poetic language or something
like tthat ?

I can see that, I looked at it from a technique standpoint. Guess that is the musician in me.

As an oldfag who experience both in the context of their time, I can not agree, but I can see how some could.

Lol, I got into shoegazi too late to ever see Mojave 3, I’ve seen Slow Dive a few times because they’re always touring, I’d love to see Mojave 3.

The first time I saw them they played the James Joyce/Syd Barrett cover of Golden Hair. I had no idea they had done a cover of it and it was such an awesome moment.

Eh. I'd say they're quite similar in what they're trying to say and present, what atmosphere they're trying to create, but do it in very different ways (and they're both great in their way).
Souvlaki is more traditional and you can pick any individual song and enjoy in it. Loveless is more experimental and you should really only listen to the entire album.

I adore them, some post-punk songs, Scott Pilgrim vs The World soundtrack (i dunno), etc. but they're somewhat masochistic for me. They're the embodiment of adolescent freedom. At merely 18 I feel like I lost that.
