I can remember it like the other day... my father telling me not to open it all the way because I would "crack the spine"
It was a great read, and later years I read his musty paperback version of the same book and was amazed at how different they were edited, also it didn't have pictures

I fucking loved these books so much. I had a collection of them will all the great adventure classics. I probably read each one at least a half dozen times each, especially Robinson Crusoe, Oliver Twist, Swiss Family Robinson, Ivanhoe and all the novels from Verne and Wells. I can't wait to pass them down to my own children.

My very first and very favorite book that I remember just grabbing out of my dad's library. I must have read it a hundred times, and just about everything I enjoy today finds very obvious roots in Swiss Family Robinson. When I read the original years later, I was surprised how different they were.

Somehow I was under the impression that books didn't have different versions the way movies did.
