I'm entering into a state of deep melancholy. Please recommend books that will either lighten my mood or make me want to kill myself. Either works.

Thanks in advance.

If books can still move you at all, you're not that lost.

Why are you entering a state of deep melancholy, OP?

I'm aware of that, but can you pinpoint the source of it? What started you entering into it?

I'd prefer not to discuss that on 4chan.

Discuss it with someone buddy. Also go out in the sun. It's shown to help raise serotonin which in turn can help relieve depression.

Or just throw back a few beers and forget your troubles. It worked for many great writers, including Hemingway.

Thanks. But...books?

>> No.1842492

Books will not help you out of your depression. It is not a problem of your perspective..this is just plain falsehood peddled by professionals of the hedonistic ''feel good culture'' which we are a part of..the reason you are depressed is because rationally you cannot reconcile the absolute cruelty of life. You notice how utterly futile your attempts at feeling better are and even worse, because what you are feeling is thought of as a disease, you are left with a lingering sense of guilt for even feeling it. What will happen is clear, you will either end your life or you will continue to live and if you do live, you will feel a dull ache, sometimes made a ravenous agony by the insanity of the world around you. You are not sick, the world is sickening.

Hemingway ended up going through several electroshock therapy sessions at a hospital, his mind was literally rotting by the end, and then he blew his head apart with his favourite shotgun. Sure, the booze worked for most of his life, but eventually he gave in.

Look for some book by Uruguayan writer Juan Carlos Onetti.
You will probably feel better after reading a bit.

That's pretty bad man. I hope you don't, but if you do, then do something. I mean just take whatever little money you have and go forth. Adventure my land, live your last moments in the gutter of Paris, Berlin or even Helsinki. I'm not trying to mock you, this is just what I would do if I had a motivator.
