MODS, PUT SOME OF THE CHARTS IN THE STICKY

Far too many threads pertain to recommending beginners beginner books. A simple and elegant solution to reduce this issue is to simply place a selection of popular charts in the pinned "welcome to /lit/" thread—the beginner greek chart, entry /lit/ chart, and the /lit/ core chart to name a few—as it's clear all these newfags don't bother to read the sticky close enough to see there's a wiki, let alone be mentally agile enough to navigate it. We can never stop rec threads but threads asking "where do I start?" and "I'm new, recommend me a book" are totally redundant as they receive the same answers every time, perhaps even being presented with one of the aforementioned charts; putting the chart in the actual sticky will make it easier for newfags to see it and read it—reducing these redundant threads. There's literally no reason to not do this as it a risk free and completely easy modification to make that would improve the board immediately. There are many things to fix, something so easily remedied should be the first. DO IT, MODS: Newfags don't like clicking on links, just stick the stupid charts in the sticky

I'm not interested in contesting the legitimacy of the advice or even the quality of the charts. Putting our most popular charts that answer our most common questions in the sticky will improve the board drastically

Anyone have that chart with the best beginner reads out of the /lit/ top 100?

The fact that people now regularly bump threads proves this board has gone to shit

In all fairness, we, like other boards, are getting raided by /tv/ tards

More like colonized. I wasn't sure where they were coming from. A lot of it is obvious /tv/ posters, but I bet a lot else is /pol/ and reddit. I'm starting to see unironic boomerisms posted here now

I don't think this will change anything. The people who come here to ask about book recommendations are also not going to bother opening a sticky to read a chart. We come here for the attention and interactions don't we ? At most you are going to have threads filled with other anons saying "read the sticky".

I disagree. It won’t stop it but it would reduce it. Newfags glance at the pin threads, if there’s a big ol’ post with an image they might click on it, as opposed to missing the wiki link and then rooting around that

Let's get a reading chart chart, so we know the chart with which to start.

I don't think it will solve the problem as the main reason people make such threads is to solicit attention, and not getting actual advice. If it were the latter they wouldn't bother with posting and use google instead. You can literally google 'lit top 100 books" or "lit book recommendations" and find reddit posts with those charts. You don't even have to visit the wiki.
